Farewell Flexibus+

After four and a half years of operation, we’re sad to announce the end of our flexibus+ service in and around the Swaffham area of West Norfolk. Central Connect have been proud to operate this pioneering service, in partnership with Norfolk Country Council, since it’s inception in spring 2022, restoring bus links to villages that had been isolated from public transport for many years. With the contract for the DRT (demand responsive transport) service ending at the end of August 2026, Norfolk County Council have decided to introduce fixed route services back to the area providing regular stable routes for passengers to use for work, school, health appointments, shopping and general leisure.

These new services will begin on Tuesday 1st September operated by Coach Services of Thetford and our last day operating flexibus+ will be Saturday 29th August. Whilst Central Connect are naturally disappointed not to have won the new contract, we are pleased and proud that the hard work of our local Swaffham based team has proven a clear demand for bus travel in the area which has resulted in ongoing services that will benefit residents for years to come and wish Coach Services all the best for their future operation.
