Introducing our new Suffolk network!

Changes to Central Connect North Essex/South West Suffolk bus services
From Sunday 30th August, we’re making major changes to our bus network around Sudbury.
We’re doing this to make the network easier for passengers to understand and use, and simpler for us to operate reliably.
Since taking over the network from Konectbuses/Hedingham & Chambers some months ago, we have undertaken extensive research into the journeys people make, and how often they make them.
We have used this information to design this new, simpler network which is based on providing some key connections between main destinations and standard weekday frequencies along these routes, including:
- Sudbury to Long Melford – up to every 15 minutes
- Sudbury to Colchester – up to every 30 minutes
- Sudbury to Bury St Edmunds – up to every 30 minutes
- Sudbury to Glemsford – up to every hour
- Sudbury to Hadleigh – up to every hour
- Sudbury to Clare and Haverhill – up to every hour
- Castle Hedingham, Sible Hedingham and Halstead to Braintree - up to every hour
- Halstead to Colchester – up to every 30 minutes
- Great Yeldham, Sible and Castle Hedingham to Colchester – up to every hour
You can see the network, and a guide to frequencies on the attached map.
Most of the new services will be given a new route number, with the numbers also having been allocated depending on the area served to make them more logical and easier to remember.
Bus links that serve schools and colleges are included in the revised network, and details can be found on the full area network map and individual route timetables. For simplicity, these services are not shown on the simplified route/frequency map.
As well as these route changes, we’re bringing a number of other benefits to passengers in the area including:
- More modern double deck buses that will arrive from September 2026.
- Brand new single deck buses that are due from January 2027.
- The launch of our Central Connect Passenger Promise guarantee.
- Our new Central Connect app and website - for bus tracking, tickets and real time service updates.
You can download new timetables and individual route maps through our service changes update page, linked here.
We look forward to seeing you on board!
